1. The Government of Tamil Nadu should
take steps to include the areas from the
AVM canal to Government Primary School,
Thoothoor under the Thoothoor Village Panchayat,
so that the professional taxes collected
from all the educational institutions can
be utilised for the welfare of the actual
contributors.
2. The managerial rights for two schools
namely Pius XI Higher Secondary School,
Thoothoor and Pius XI Primary School, Thoothoor
must be settled by the Diocese of Thiruvananthapuram
at an earlier date as per the canon law.
3. A Fisheries College must be started
to impart latest fishing techniques to the
traditional shark hunters of this area or
a separate Department must be started in
St. Jude's College, Thoothoor.
4. The Department of Fisheries should establish
a fuel-cum-workshop unit at Thoothoor.
5. The Department of Fisheries should initiate
starting a boat-making unit and the boats
must be supplied on subsidised rates and
liberal loan terms.
6. The N.G.O’s such as T.S.S.S. and
K.S.S.S. should take steps to inculcate
the importance of saving among the fishermen.
7. Ice Plant already run by the Department
of Fisheries must be revived with cold storage
facilities.
8. Landing facility must be made for the
boats through A.V.M. Canal.
9. Awareness must be given on Deaddition,
Family planning, Self-help Schemes, Dowry
System etc.
Foreign ships and Indian fishing ships
must be banned from catching sharks for
the welfare of the traditional fishermen.
